Technology in India: Driving a New Era of Growth

 India’s technology journey has transformed the country from a back-office service hub into one of the world’s most dynamic digital economies. Over the past decade, technology has moved beyond big cities and corporate offices. It now shapes how Indians pay, learn, shop, access healthcare, receive government benefits, build businesses, and connect with the world.

One of India’s biggest technology achievements is its digital public infrastructure. Platforms such as Aadhaar, UPI, DigiLocker, and direct benefit transfer systems have made digital services faster, cheaper, and more accessible. UPI, in particular, has changed everyday payments. From street vendors to large businesses, millions of Indians now use instant digital transactions as part of daily life. This has helped bring more people into the formal economy and has strengthened financial inclusion.

India’s startup ecosystem is another powerful sign of its technological rise. Cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Gurugram, Chennai, and Delhi-NCR have become major innovation hubs. At the same time, smaller cities are also producing entrepreneurs in areas such as fintech, edtech, healthtech, agritech, logistics, software-as-a-service, and climate technology. This shows that innovation in India is no longer limited to metropolitan centres.
